Learn More About Waterproof Vinyl Flooring

Waterproof Vinyl flooring comes in several forms: sheet vinyl, vinyl plank, vinyl tile, and a rigid core. Vinyl remains one of the most popular flooring choices because it's waterproof, it's available in a variety of styles, and it's extremely easy to maintain. Because it's waterproof, it can be mopped, unlike hardwood and some laminates, and it can be installed anywhere in the house. Get in touch with After Five Floors today.

Is Waterproof Vinyl Flooring the Right Choice for Your Home?

Because of all the different styles available, and it's waterproof properties, vinyl is probably the most versatile flooring option on the market. You can find vinyl flooring that gives you any look you can imagine, and no other flooring option allows you to install in any room in your house.

Older vinyl products were susceptible to dents and scratches, but new advancements in production technology have drastically reduced the chances of that happening. Some vinyl products are on the same level as the laminate flooring.

So if you want the look and feel of hardwood flooring, but need the waterproof capabilities, then vinyl flooring might be right for you!  Contact us to speak to one of our knowledgeable, friendly, and never pushy sales reps!

Types of Waterproof Vinyl Flooring

  • Sheet Vinyl - If you're looking for options, this is your go-to. Sheet vinyl comes in just about any style you can think of wood, stone, tile, etc. It comes in 6 or 12 ft rolls, making it quick to install (for pros). It's not recommended to install yourself because if not done properly, there will be visible wrinkles and bubbles.
  • Vinyl Plank (LVP) - Commonly known as LVT or LVP (luxury vinyl tile or plank), these floors are generally designed to look like hardwood floors. Vinyl plank is generally glued down, but you can find some that are floating (see "rigid core"). Because it's 100% waterproof, it makes a great kitchen or bathroom floor.
  • Vinyl Tile (LVT)  - This is vinyl that comes in square or rectangle "tiles." Common sizes are 12x12, 24x24, and 12x24. Vinyl tile is designed to look like stone or tile and is sometimes even installed to be grouted like an actual tile. Because of its shape, it's often installed in patterns: diamond, monolithic, checkered.
  • Rigid Core - These are "engineered" vinyl planks that have either WPC (Wood Plastic Core) or SPC (stone plastic core). This particular type of vinyl flooring was developed to be the best of both laminate and vinyl. These floors are usually installed just like laminate and can be a good option for DIYers.
